Highams Park station renaissance

Highams Park station has been transformed after National Express Group's 'one' railway, local residents, NCP and Network Rail cooperated together to make a series of improvements. The station is now a far more pleasant environment.

'one' railway has been consulting with the Highams Park Forum and the local station adopters, The Highams Park Society, as a result of their input the maintenance regime of the station has been reviewed and several improvements have been planned and implemented. The whole station has been redecorated, making a lighter, brighter more welcoming environment. New booking office audio units have recently been installed to enable the staff and customers to hear each other more clearly. The platform has been given a heavy clean, some picket fencing has been replaced and the The Highams Park Society has also worked diligently to create a garden at the station. In addition, Network Rail have conducted a thorough litter pick of the track area, whilst 'one' railway staff continue to conduct a litter pick at the station on a daily basis. In the station car park the spaces have been completely realigned and NCP have arranged for an increased number of mechanical sweeps of the area. NCP staff are also conducting regular litter picks of the car park area. More station improvements are planned for 2008.

Paul Watson 'one' railway's Business Director for the West Anglia route commented: 'We are committed to investing in our stations and enhancing the environment for our passengers. We have been working closely with our partners in the Highams Park area and over the last couple of months we have made significant progress at the station. We will continue to build on these improvements throughout 2008.'
