Aberdeen Station car park moves to new multi storey location

The multi million pound revamp of Aberdeen Station continues to move closer to completion this month with the relocation of the station car park to new, improved premises.

From Saturday 19 January 2008, station users will benefit from five floors of dedicated station parking within the multi storey car park located on College Street. The move sees an increase in the number of spaces available from 130 to around 170 and has the added benefit of being undercover.

In addition to this increase, there will also be a number of other improvements introduced, including the installation of CCTV, clearly marked pedestrian walkways, new lighting, regular security patrols and new and upgraded lifts which will provide better access and greater convenience for customers.

Signage within the car park will direct customers to the five lower levels. These clean, bright and secure floors will be operated by First ScotRail staff. The station is accessed though a linked walkway from the car park.

Peter Williams, Commercial Director at First ScotRail, said: “The relocation of the car park will provide more spaces for our customers and the convenience of covered parking. With better access and enhanced security we are confident this move will be positively received.”

The works are being carried out through a partnership between First ScotRail, Network Rail and Hammerson, along with Miller construction.
