Eight more Class 66s on the way

Following completion and both static and dynamic testing in Canada, a total of 10 Class 66s are on the way to Europe.

GEXR being short of motive power the move scheduled for Wednesday 19 March 2008 did not depart the EMD plant in London until after midnight. The train was formed of GEXR Nos. 3821 and 3856 plus eight units for the UK, Nos. GBRf 66728-66732, and Freightliner Nos. 66595-66597, on the rear of the train were two Euro Cargo Rail locos Nos. 77011-77012.

The train was routed via Toronto Mac yard, where traction was exchanged for Canadian National No. 6018, this powered the train through to the Port of Halifax arriving early on Saturday 22 March 2008.

Providing loading progresses well and is not delayed by the Easter Holiday, the ship JUMBO SPIRIT is due to dock late on Easter Sunday to collect the cargo. The ship is estimated to take around 10 days to reach the UK at Newport, so expect an arrival around 4-5 April, but this could be changed due to loading, sailing and weather conditions. The ship is due to offload the UK locos first and then continue to Rotterdam to offload the ERC locos.
