First Capital Connect has launched a Service Delivery Centre (SDC) at Croydon to deliver an improved train service for its Thameslink route customers.

The new facility works in partnership with First Capital Connect’s other SDC for the Thameslink route, which is based at West Hampstead. Responsibility for the route has been split, with Croydon overseeing the south section and West Hampstead overseeing the north section.

Danny Williams, Head of Train Services, First Capital Connect, said: “Getting our customers to their destination on time is what it’s all about. Over the last 18 months, we have made real efforts to improve performance on the Thameslink route, through a variety of improvements and initiatives.

“Our new Croydon SDC brings together the controls of Network Rail, First Capital Connect and Southern Railway all under one roof and ensures a greater focus and attention on the service.”
