In recognition of his long standing contribution to the construction materials industry and Aggregate Industries’ own commitment to sustainable transport, Group Chief Executive, Bill Bolsover’s name now appears on Class 66/6 No. 66623, which will haul aggregate products around the country.
The custom-liveried locomotive showing Aggregate Industries’ Bardon Aggregates branding, operated by Freightliner Heavy Haul (FHH) on behalf of the construction materials business, was officially named Bill Bolsover on 16 November 2007 and will run nationally hauling a variety of bulk freight..
Aggregate Industries’ businesses produce and transport over 40 million tonnes of aggregates each year - 14 million tonnes of which is moved by ship, barge, or rail. This figure is set to increase as the Company continually looks at further ways to transport materials in a more sustainable way to reduce impacts on the environment.
Mr Bolsover said: “It is an honour to be recognised in this way by Freightliner. This powerful locomotive signifies our commitment to the highest standards of service delivery and is in keeping with our aim to use sustainable transport wherever possible to help to reduce the impact of vehicle movements along our road networks.”
