On the evening of 5 February 2008, the 19.05 Paddington to Penzance formed with powercars Nos. 43177 and 43165 failed at Newton Abbot. As no locomotives were available for the rescue, two powercars Nos. 43134 and 43146 were sent 1Z99 from Laira to Newton Abbot to collect the failed train which had terminated. Its passengers were taken forward by another HST which was in the area with an empty stock move |
