Two
track machines (a tamper and a stoneblower) collided at Acton Turville,
Badminton during the night, four rail staff injured, one remained in
hospital mid afternoon. The accident closed the Bristol Parkway - Wootton
Bassett section for most of the day. The damaged vehicles had pressure
placed on bogie springs which could have 'flown off' without warning.
While the vehicles were removed by rail with the aid of EWS and Freightliner
traction, a number of houses were evacuated. |
