The Heathrow Express Class 332 units brought electrification to Paddington station with the launch of the 15minute shuttle link between Central London and London Airport. The sets built by Siemens are set out for first and standard class travel as well as having special luggage space for pre-checked customs cleared items. The sets are painted in a silver grey livery and are based just outside Paddington at Old Oak Common. Set No. 332008 is illustrated. CJM
The line around Heathrow Airport is all in tunnel section, with the route diving below ground soon after diverging from the Great Western main line near Southall. Trains are usually formed of two 4-car sets, but at times single 4-car sets are found working. Two slightly different internal layouts can be found, these are detailed in the technical description. Set No. 332006 is seen at Heathrow Terminal 1-3 station. CJM
Heathrow express interiors. On the left is the high-quality first class seating, located in one driving car of each set. Seats are in the 2+1 style, with each seat having a table. On board entertainment and London/Airport travel information is available in both classes. On the right we see a standard class interior showing that special luggage stacks are provided in each coach. Seating is based on the 2+2 style, but some single seats are also provided. Both: CJM
