Painted in BR blue livery with a small yellow warning panel and a black triangle indicating the brake van end, SR design HAP No. 5608 is illustrated. Many of these DMBS vehicles were later used in the EPB refurbishing project. CJM

The BR design body profile of the later HAP stock is shown here on set No. 6022 painted in standard rail blue livery with a full yellow end. The earlier builds of BR HAP unit had a full window height route indicator panel, later built sets had a slightly less deep display. The black triangle on the front shown the brake/power car end. CJM

One of the later built sets, No. 6162 shows the smaller route indicator panel and the angled rainwater bands on the roof. This set has its power car leading and is seen near Rochester on a SE main line service. CJM

Viewed from its driving trailer end, this is a declassified SAP unit, No. 5902 (the original 6002). The ex DTC vehicle shows its toilet compartments in the centre, one being fed from each of the two passenger areas. The DTC cars had a empty underframe, with all power and control equipment housed on the DM vehicle. No. 5902 is seen at Hampton Court Junction on a Hampton Court-Waterloo service. CJM

When rebuilt as CAP (Coastway HAP) sets, units were formed with their power cars in the centre, with each driving vehicle having first class accommodation behind the driving cab. The first member of the 413/2 sub class No. 3201 is seen at Barnham on a Coastway service. CJM
