These two car sets, built to traditional 1960s EMU design operated on the unique 1,200V dc third rail side pick-up system, between Manchester and Bury. Driving Trailer No. 77164 is seen leading this formation soon after delivery, painted in BR green offset by a yellow/cream waist height band and a lion and wheel logo. Note that the buck-eye coupling is in the lowered position. CJM Collection.
