Eurotunnel Class 0

A fleet of 5 diesel Bo-Bo locos are operated from either Cheriton or Coquelles for maintenance of the Eurotunnel network or emergency rescue of either a Shuttle, Eurostar or freight train from within the Channel Tunnel. The locos based on the NS6400 series are fitted with a drop-head Scharfenberg coupling. To enable the diesel locos to operate within the Channel Tunnel, where the presence of diesel exhaust is not allowed, a 'scrubber' wagon is hauled, into which the locos exhaust is funnelled by the roof mounted stack arrangement. All five locos are painted in a yellow/grey livery.

Eurotunnel shunter 0004 is seen outside the shed F40 at Coquelles, France. The locos drop-head Scharfenberg coupler is in the lowered position. The pipe arrangement on the roof is the connection to an exhaust scrubber wagon. CJM.
