First Great Western powercar No. 43181 was transported by road from Plymouth Laira depot to Brush Traction, Loughborough on 2/3 October 2007 for refurbishment and fitting an MTU engine. Looking rather 'unusua'l, the transfer move is seen traversing the A38 'Expressway' near Drumbridges, Devon.

Colas Rail Class 47/7s Nos. 47727 and 47749 have now started daily work on the West Country Rail Head Treatment Train (RHTT) working between Penzance and Newton Abbot. On 30 September the train is seen heading west at Kerswell Bridge between Newton Abbot and Totnes.

The West Somerset Railway linking Bishops Lydeard with Minehead held a steam gala over the weekend of 6/7 October. A number on visiting locos attended and one of the stars of the show was ex-LB&SCR 'Terrier' No. 662 from Bressingham Steam Museum. The loco is seen approaching Blue Anchor.

The 2007 RHTT season is now well with us, with some 15 trains working nationwide. Motive power contracts are shared between a number of operators including DRS, EWS, Colas Rail and GBRf. Between 17 August and 22 September 2007 Canadian Pacific Railway 'Hudson' No. 2816 Empress, undertook a month long steam tour of Western Canada and the United States Midwest. Early afternoon on 22 September the Hudson passes Ogden Shops on the run into Calgary at the end of its voyage.

K & WVR held their Autumn Steam Gala over the weekend of 13-14 October 2007. One of the stars of the show was GWR 2-8-0 No. 3802, on loan from the Llangollen Railway. It is seen heading for Oxenhope with the 09.45 from Keighley formed of the lines Brakedown train on 13 October.

In an extraordinary move on 15 October 2007 half Eurostar set No. 373307 operated under its own power from North Pole Depot to Paris Le Landy Depot. This is understood to be the first time such a working has been allowed. The other half of this set is at the new Temple Mills depot for training. The amazing move is seen approaching Ashford (Kent).

Class 47 No. 47558 Mayflower is seen powering the Glasgow to Parkstone Quay (Harwich) boat train service at Sheffield on Friday 2 August 1985. This loco was eventually renumbered to 47722 and renamed The Queen Mother.

In October 2007 plans to extend the West Midlands Metro along Broad Street in Birmingham were put on hold when Centro (West Midlands PTE) refused to fund the associated congestion charges. On Friday 19 October, Ansaldo Transporti tram No. 04 stands at Birmingham Snow Hill with the 11.01 service to Wolverhampton St. Georges.

Ex FGW Class 153s Nos. 153308, 153302, 153355, and 153374 are seen at Branksome on 24 October 2007, after running as 5Z28 12.15 Eastleigh Works to Bournemouth West T&RSMD. The units have finally moved after being stored for many months and are destined for the North of England after undergoing repairs at Bournemouth depot.

On the evening of 18 October 2007, Class 60 No. 60073 was working the empty Kingsbury to Lindsay oil tanks and was given a signal check at Barnetby Station. Despite the gloom at the East end of the station our photographer managed to find enough light over a 30 second time exposure at f8 to obtain this result.

Ex-Southern Railway 4-6-0 No. 30777 Sir Lamiel, powered a Cathedrals Express charter from Clapham Junction to Exeter on 28 October 2007. The train is seen storming through Sutton Bingham, west of Yeovil. The loco experienced some slipping in the Honiton-Exeter area due to wet rail conditions.

Class 60 No. 60059 Swinden Dalesman is one of only two which retain the obsolete Loadhaul livery, the other being 60007 (see POD 10/9/07.) On 29 October 2007 the loco is seen amid the semaphore signals at Droitwich Spa with the 1321 Round Oak to Margam empty steel train.
