On Friday 17 October, No. 82305 forms the rear of the 15.10 Wrexham General to London Marylebone service at Wellington. Motive power was provided by Class 67 No. 67012 A Shropshire Lad. |

Picture of the Day 20 October 2008 On these increasingly cold and wintry days here in the UK, I thought today we would look at the 'other sea wall' in Southern California, rather than the one in Dawlish. This view taken at Del Mar between San Diego and Oceanside, shows where the main line from Los Angeles to San Diego and Mexico runs side by side with the Pacific Ocean, along some of the finest surfing beaches in the World. Looking down from the cliff walk on 8 October 2008, MK rebuild F40PH-2C No. 2105 leads a six car formation of double-deck stock operating train 639, the 09.45 San Diego to Oceanside. |

Picture of the Day 24 October 2008 Since the start of the 2008 RHTT/Rail cleaning period, DRS Class 47s Nos. 47501 and 47802 have worked the North East RHTT train 3S10 from Carlisle to Carlisle service. However, on Saturday 18 October DRS turned out Class 37s Nos. 37261 and 37688 to power the train, which is recorded passing Ouston Junction. |

Picture of the Day 29 October 2008 Following yesterdays London Transport picture, we stay on the London Underground for today's POD, with this outstanding action night picture of battery/electric locomotives Nos. L29 and L22 rounding the curve at Ealing Common at 00.22 on 4 October 2008. The first few wagons in the consist were ex BR-Turbot wagons. These days with good quality digital cameras and quality lenses it is quite possible to record action images of slow moving trains at night, especially in bright station areas. This image was exposed at 1/160sec at f3.2, using an ISO setting of 1000, The camera was a Canon EOS30D fitted with a EF50mm lens. |

Picture of the Day 31 October 2008 DRS Class 66/4 No. 66430 passes Preston on 30 October 2008 powering the Daventry to Coatbridge intermodal service. With the taking off lease of the original 10 DRS Class 66/4s, plus extra work with the annual RHTT traffic, the company are awaiting the delivery of four new locos via Newport, which are due to arrive in the first week of November together with one Fastline and four Freightliner locos. |
