Class - 11001 See Technical Data

One of the more unusual shunting locos, No. 11001 emerged from BR Ashford Works in 1950 to a Bulleid design. The loco with a 500hp output was a hefty machine being over 33ft in length. With a top speed of just over 43mph No. 11001 was designed for main line operation as well as shunting. The loco was used in Norwood yard for most of its life. It was originally painted in BR loco black which was later amended to green. The loco only had brakes on itself (air) with no provision for train braking. No. 11001 is seen at Norwood in summer 1950.
