Class 03 See Technical Data

Views showing the cab end of a standard Class 03. The end has four marker lights (electric), while the vacuum brake pipe in fitted downwards on the buffer beam. Standard 'wasp' colours are applied on both ends and the warning horn is located in the centre of the cab section facing the nose end. No. D2133 is a preserved example and is now operated on the West Somerset Railway. CJM

The same loco as shown in the first illustration, No. D2133, now painted in BR 1960s green-livery. CJM

The WAGN operated loco No. 03179 is the only example of the fleet to remain in operation with a national train operator. This loco is now painted in the company identity and is usually operated from Hornsey depot. It is a dual brake example. Front end equipment layout. A-exhaust stack, B-main reservoir pipes, C-vacuum brake pipe, D-air brake pipe, E-warning horn, F-front/rear marker light, G-coupling hook and crew coupling, H-radiator, I-radiator water fillers. Locos Nos. D2119/20/41/42/44/45/51/52 (03119/20/41/42/44/45/51/52) rebuilt with 6in lower cabs for operation over the BPGV line in West Wales where the normal height would have precluded operation under low bridges on the line. Headlights were also fitted on both ends as the route had a number of open crossings. No. 03119 is seen painted in standard rail blue. CJM.
