| Viewed from its No. 2 end, No. 27005 shows the early sliding cab window side arrangement. This loco, now in preservation shows 4-charactor route indication equipment, but the original front doors have been sealed up. This loco also carried a three section snowplough. CJM. |

| Viewed from its No. 1 or radiator end, No. 27036 is illustrated in standard BR rail blue and shows the later fitted vertical sliding cab side window arrangement. This loco has the former alpha/numeric route indicator box carrying a 1970s black and white dot layout. CJM. |
