Class - D2708 See Technical Data

This batch of 0-4-0 diesel hydraulic locos built by North British were a more refined version of their small shunter design and saw a much larger fleet ordered. The bodywork was much improved on earlier like offerings. Power and drive was also much improved with a licence arrangement set up to use German MAN power units and Voith transmission. No. D2711 shows a loco from its nose end, body side hinged doors provided technical access, while the cab had much improved visibility. Vacuum train brakes were also fitted. CJM Collection.

No. D2754 painted in standard BR green livery with wasp ends and British Railways lion holding wheel logo shows the cab end detail, the good size rear windows were a great asset during shunting. Some minor design differences were incorporated during the assembly of this fleet. N Nesbitt.
