This fleet of the Networker breed are often called 'Networker Express' and were designed under the NSE banner for long distance services. The body structure is based on the Class 465 suburban Networker built, but the interior is much more designed for the long distance traveller. Although all built to a common design and specification, two distinct batches of Class 365 exist. The first 16 units (365501-516) are used on Connex South Eastern and are fitted only for third rail power collection, the space for the 25kv ac pantograph being plated over. The remainder of the fleet (365517-541) are allocated to Hornsea and used by WAGN on their long distance services from Kings Cross to Cambridge, Kings Lynn and Peterborough.
The sets are gangwayed within unit and offer standard class seats in the low-density 2+2 configuration. First class accommodation which is in both driving cars is in the 2+1 style.
When delivered the sets were finished in Network livery, this is retained on the WAGN fleet, while the Connex allocation now sport the white and yellow house colours.
In 2001 a scheme to improve the driving cab was started on the WAGN fleet, with a new design nose end fitted, incorporating an air conditioning system and revised lighting. It is expected that all 365s will be modified in the future.
