CLASS 390 'Pendolino'

These 53 sets will revolutionise rail travel on the West Coast Main Line
between Euston-Birmingham, Manchester, Liverpool and Scotland from mid
2002. The 53 sets costing over £600m were, at the end of 2001, under
construction at Alstom Washwood Heath Birmingham and just starting testing
and training. Each train set will eventually be formed of nine vehicles
and for the foreseeable future will travel at a top speed of 125mph offering
a high quality and fast service. The train are fitted with tilt and this
will operate over certain sections of the WCML from 2003. |
