CLASS 456

The 2-car Class 456 fleet were built in 1990-91 for use on Network SouthEast SouthCentral services to supplement their fleet of Class 455 stock and also provide a 2-car service on lighter used routes, such as the South London Line linking London bridge with Victoria. The sets design is based on the body structure of the Class 319, with modified front ends incorporating multiple control equipment. Seating is for all standard class with a high-density 2+3 layout. A toilet is incorporated at the inner end of the DTSO vehicle. Livery was originally NSE, which is still carried by most sets. After privatisation the sets were taken over by Connex SouthCentral and are now operated by GoVia. Allocation is Selhurst.
