| For the first three weeks of August, Class 180 stock operated the 14.35 Paddington-Plymouth and 18.40 return as part of a driver training plan, prior to deploying the stock on one return service each day from the start of the winter timetable. On 5 August, Nos. 180107 and 180101 pass Dawlish with the westbound working. CJM |

times 10 May (Monday) ------------------------------------------------------- 31 May - 5029 and 5051 will double head a Penzance-Paddington Pathfinder charter as far as Taunton. August Sundays - We have been advised that 'Torbay Express' steam charters will operate on Sundays August 1, 8, 15, 22, 29 between Bristol Temple Meads and Kingswear. Details will be given when available. Possible locos are 5051, 6024 and 7802. (Operator Past Time Rail) . Due to an outstanding issue with TPWS, No. 7802 will not now be available for these trains and substitute motive power has been arranged. An additional Torbay Express will also operate on 5 September. 8

| The first time a pair of LoadHaul liveried locos visited the West Country was on 2 August, 2003, when the Worksop Open Day Fund operated a charter from Worksop to Paignton powered by LH-liveried Class 56s Nos. 56118/107. The train formed of the green-liveried Mk1 charter set is seen passing Dawlish. CJM. |

| On Sunday 24 August 2003, the 'Torbay Express' steam charter from Bristol to Kingswear was again hauled by No. 5051, with some rather 'dirty' smoke, the nine car train is seen passing along Marine Parade, Dawlish a couple on minutes early at 12.02. CJM |
