Newton Abbot station does not offer huge potential for photography. On May 13, 2000 InterCity-liveried Class 47 No. 47826 stops in the up main platform with the 08.48 Penzance-Manchester service, formed of a rake of Virgin Trains liveried stock. CJM.

The days of yesterday at Newton Abbot, with four through platform lines, sidings, semaphore signals, yards and not forgetting a Class 50 hauled three-car passenger train! This view taken on October 2, 1984 shows Class 50 No. 50005 departing from the station forming the 10.10 Paignton-Plymouth, which at that time was formed of just three Mk2 passenger vehicles. CJM.

Just a little to the west of Newton Abbot is Aller, where the Paignton and Plymouth line part company. Taking the Plymouth route, a First Great Western HST, led by power car No. 43004, leads the 09.35 Paddington-Plymouth on March 4, 2000. CJM.
