More Freightliner 66s arrive in the UK

The Jumbo ship MV Fairload arrived at ABP Newport during the morning of 20 April and commenced unloading eight Freightliner Class 66s. These should all be off-loaded by 21 April and the ship will then continue to Rotterdam to discharge six Euro 66s, three for Freightliner Poland and three for lease.

The Freightliner locos are Nos. 66587-66594, which completes the present order.

Only one further order for Class 66s is presently outstanding, that of 10 locos for DRS which are expected to be delivered in late summer.

Sources close to the Class 66 rail industry in Mainland Europe still say that EWS are having 60 Class 66 style locos for Euro Cargo Rail for delivery from the end of this year, but this in unconfirmed by EWS in the UK.
