Chiltern Railway’s first time saving machine becomes part of history

Chiltern Railways first revolutionary queue busting machine will soon be displayed as part of history in the National Railway Museum.

The National Railway Museum is the world’s largest railway museum with over three hundred years of world railway history, from Japanese Bullet trains to Queen Victoria’s favourite carriage.

The Queue Busting Machine (QBM) was developed around 1997. It was an important development in speeding up queues and saving passengers time in the morning peak.

Today’s fast ticket machines are expanded from the QBM and have the ability to take cards, cash, produce a huge number of tickets for that day or tomorrow, give discounted travel and produce car park tickets.

The QBM will travel to York on Thursday 16th August 2007 and will be stored at the museum until it joins one the exhibitions.
