Tube Lines, the company rebuilding the Jubilee, Northern and Piccadilly lines London Underground , is refurbishing Woodside Park station as part of its station upgrade programme for 2007-08. Work has just begun.
Most of the work to upgrade Woodside Park station will take place at night from the hours of 1am until 5am when the station is closed to the public. This is to ensure that the safety of passengers is maintained at all times and inconvenience minimised while construction works are being carried out. To maximise the efficiency of the project, work will also take place during the day behind hoardings. This will ensure that the upgrade is completed as soon as possible without affecting passengers using the station. The upgrade will be complete by spring 2008.
The station refurbishment will bring many improvements as a team of engineers will be working every night to improve security by installing 39 additional CCTV cameras around the station. Public address systems will be upgraded, 10 new help points will be installed and new information indicator boards will be placed on platforms and in the ticket hall to provide better travel information. The station will look and feel brighter as Tube Lines undertakes repairs to the walls and floors and improve the seating required.
Michael Minta, Tube Lines’ Project Manager said: “The upgrade will bring significant results to the thousands of passengers who travel through Woodside Park station every day. My project team is looking forward to delivering the improvements and seeing what we know will be impressive end results. We are adopting the best practices in construction to minimise disruption both to passengers and to the station’s neighbours and apologise in advance for any inconvenience caused.”
