No timetabled through service Minehead-Bristol-Minehead for summer 2007

Since publication of the story reproduced below on 5 June, we are now advised that these trains will NOT operate in the 2007 season.

Class 31s operating in ' top-and-tail' mode are rostered to operate a through service btween Bristol Temple Meads and Minehead on Fridays, Saturdays and Mondays this summer.

The trains will be formed of six Mk2s and operate as an out and back from Minehead, departing as the 11.10 Minehead to Bristol due at 13.45 and the 14.06 Bristol to Minehead due 16.25. Trains will be operated by Victa-Westlink under the new open access agreement. Services are aimed at Butlins holiday camp, located adjacent to Minehead station who say that a high proportion of customers still use public transport to visit the resort.

Class 31s Nos. 31452, 31454, and 31602 are allocated to the project.

The entire operation is still subject to Somerset County Council agreement.
