Settle & Carlisle vinyl applied to Class 156

In partnership with the Settle-Carlisle Development Company and Friends of the Settle-Carlisle Line, Northern Class 156 No. 156484 has been completely vinyled to create a special livery to celebrate the Settle & Carlisle route.

The unit has two body-length  images on each side of the two-car train, one depicting route images of the Citadel-Carlisle, High Cross Appleby and Horton in Ribblesdale, and the second featuring a stunning image of Ribblehead Viaduct with a steam train crossing.

In addition, the unit has onboard tables to continue the celebratory theme of the S&C to assist passengers plan their journey with a map of the line and more images of high-spots such as Smardale Viaduct ,and Armathwaite and Settle stations as well as the Citadel-Carlisle, Ribblehead Viaduct and High Cross Appleby.

The livery was launched at Leeds station on 2 May 2006, after which it formed the 10.49 service train to Carlisle coupled to No. 156461, which was similarly vinyled earlier in the year to promote the Ravenglass & Eskdale Railway.
