£1 a ride on FGWs Severn Beach line

There are only a few weeks left for train customers to travel anywhere on Bristol's Severn Beach line for just £1.

That is the latest tempting offer from First Great Western in conjunction with the Severnside Community Rail Partnership. The £1 flat fare Line Ranger is available until 18 May after 09.00, Mondays to Fridays only. At the same time, Bristol University students are being offered special vouchers to travel for free.

The rail link between Severn Beach and Bristol Temple Meads serves the communities at Lawrence Hill, Stapleton Road, Montpelier, Redland, Clifton Down, Sea Mills, Shirehampton, Avonmouth and St Andrew's Road.

"We hope this joint initiative with the Severnside Community Rail Partnership will make people more aware of trains as a convenient way to travel locally at off-peak times," says First Great Western Regional Manager Andrew Griffiths. "We also hope the offer is particularly helpful to students."

The offer is a taster of the new zonal fares being introduced on the Severn Beach line later this month.
