Bristol Parkway - new platform 4 opens

The new up platform No. 4 at Bristol Parkway was officially opened on 9 May 2007 by Rail Minister Tom Harris. The new platform face will hopefully make services more reliable on the London Paddington to Cardiff/Swansea route.

The £3 million project was funded by Network Rail to reduce congestion for Bristol Parkway - London/Birmingham route services. FGW contributed £100,000 to the project with a new waiting room and customer help point.

It is still the long term intention of both Network Rail and FGW to build an additional down platform, which would make the present platform 2 into an island structure.
