Following delivery of the recent batch of EMD Class 66/5s to Freightliner Intermodal, a start has been made at withdrawing Freightliner Class 57/0s and returning the fleet to owner Porterbrook. A number of locos are expected to find other work, mainly powering Network Rail track inspection trains under the DRS banner.

By early May Nos. 57007, 57008, 57009 , 57010 and 57012 had been taken out of service at Crewe ready for return to Porterbrook.
