Silverlink takes over Willesden TMD

Built for the original electrification of the Euston - Birmingham/Liverpool/Manchester route in the mid 1960s, Willesden District Electric Depot (DED) was the main hub of London area West Coast traction operations for many years. Displaced by privatisation and the deployment of Pendolino stock on the WCML, the depot has recently been operated by Alstom and used for locomotive and stock repair work including GBRf Class 66s.

From 12 May 2007, Silverlink Railways took over the management of the facility, and from now until the end of the Silverlink franchise it will maintain the Class 313/1 and Class 508 EMUs that operate on Silverlink Metro services. Alstom say that 23 of the depots staff have transferred to Silverlink. Willesden depot will operate jointly with Bletchley TMD.
