| Tiverton Parkway 'comes of age'
|
Tiverton Parkway station commemorated its coming of age on 11 May 2007 and marked the milestone with celebrations at the station led by competition winner Sadie Howard. First Great Western Service Delivery Manager Tracy McCarthy was joined by Sadie, who also turns 21 this week, to cut a specially commissioned 21st birthday cake, which was later handed out to passengers at the station. Sadie, who entered a competition which invited people celebrating their 21st birthday or wedding anniversary in the same week as Tiverton Parkway to join the celebrations, was then presented an original newspaper from her date of birth and has also won a pair of First Class tickets to travel anywhere on the First Great Western network. Tracey McCarthy said: “This is a very special occasion for Tiverton Parkway and we wanted to share our celebrations with local people who use the station who were also celebrating a milestone, whether it was a 21st birthday or wedding anniversary. I would like to wish Sadie a very happy 21st birthday, I hope that she enjoys her prize.” Sadie Howard said: “It was such a lovely surprise to be invited to the celebrations, my mum put my name forward for the competition without me knowing. It is certainly a birthday to remember. I don’t think there are many people who can say they share their birthday with a railway station!” |
