For Woodham Ferrers read South Woodham Ferrers

Mark Francois MP for Rayleigh is to rename Woodham Ferrers station ‘South Woodham Ferrers’ in partnership with ‘one’ railway, at the station at 14.00 on Friday 18 May.

The train operator has responded to local feedback, which indicated a strong desire to restore the town’s full name to the station signage after many years of an abbreviated version.

Commenting on the change that he will unveil Mark Francois said:  “As the local Member of Parliament, I am delighted to be able to participate in the renaming of the station at South Woodham Ferrers. The town has grown considerably in recent years and this change reflects the fact that the station now primarily serves the town. I would like to thank ‘one’ railway for undertaking this change.”

David Winder ‘one’ railway’s Business Director for the Metro route said: "one’ railway are very pleased to have had the opportunity to restore the full name of South Woodham Ferrers to the station signage. It is an undertaking which is indicative of ‘one’ railway’s commitment to listening to the wishes of local communities. As a company we have been thrilled at the response we have received to the recent station name changes across our network. ‘one’ railway is particularly delighted to welcome Mark Fancois here today to mark this occasion.”
