Southern and the West London Line Group herald a new service

On Monday 21 May 2007, Southern and the West London Line Group greeted the Mayors of Kensington & Chelsea, Hammersmith & Fulham and Wandsworth to mark the arrival of the first through West London Line weekday morning peak service for five years from East Croydon to Kensington Olympia.

Francis Aaronson, Chairman of the Kensington & Chelsea Chamber of Commerce welcomed the new Southern train at Kensington Olympia on behalf of local businesses looking to ease the journeys to work of their workforce.

Commenting on this development, Mark Balaam, Chairman of the West London Line Group said “This is a tremendous step forward in strengthening this increasingly-important cross-London service." Mr Balaam also gave thanks to passengers for their support of the service and also to Southern, for introducing these new workings.

The new Southern service leaves East Croydon at 07.47, calls at Selhurst at 07.50, Streatham Common at 07.58, Balham at 08.02, Clapham Junction on Platform 16 at 08.10, West Brompton at 08.15 and Kensington Olympia at 08.19.

It then runs as a shuttle between Kensington Olympia and Clapham Junction with three southbound journeys from Kensington Olympia at 08.24, 08.58 and 09.29 and two more northbound journeys from Clapham Junction at 08.43 and 09.14.
