The official unveiling ceremony took place on 1 October 2007 at the Freightliner Maintenance Ltd depot in Leeds in celebration of the new contract between Drax Power Ltd and FHH for rail delivery of coal and limestone into Drax Power Station. Following a previous five year contract which helped FHH to establish itself in the coal business, this new contract represents a significant step, extending the duration and volume of trading between the two companies.
The locomotive named, is a recently built, low-emission machine, underpinning both companies’ commitment to moving freight on rail and on minimising environmental impact.
Paul Smart, Managing Director, FHH commented: “From modest beginnings, the volume of coal FHH has moved to Drax has steadily increased, culminating in this new contract which secures substantial volumes for a five year term. I believe that by working closely with the people at Drax, our team at Ferrybridge and the drivers and shunters delivering the trains on a daily basis have set new standards in rail freight reliability, flexibility and punctuality. We will continue to support Drax Power Ltd in similar vein.”
Peter Emery, Production Director, Drax Power added: “Reliable deliveries of materials such as coal and limestone underpin our operations and contribute to the delivery of secure supplies of electricity. We have found FHH to be both reliable and attuned to our needs.
Following the success of our initial five-year contract with FHH, we are pleased to continue what has proved to be an effective working relationship.” |
