RWE npower awards EWS Energy five year contract

RWE npower has awarded a contract to EWS Energy for the delivery of coal trains to power stations at Aberthaw and Didcot.

The contract will see EWS Energy operate coal trains to RWE npower’s Aberthaw and Didcot Power Stations resulting in potentially thousands of trains delivering millions of tonnes of coal over the lifetime of the agreement.

The multi-million GBP contract was awarded to EWS Energy due to its proven track record in reliable delivery to RWE npower on existing services.

EWS Energy will establish a new traincrew depot at Aberthaw as part of a range of service enhancements that will be implemented under the new contract.

Paul Bates, EWS Energy Managing Director, said: “We are proud to have been awarded this significant contract from RWE npower. Our relationship will build upon excellent operations in recent years, and allow for further improvements to be delivered during the contract period.”
