Royal naming for The Corps of Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers

In a private ceremony held at London Paddington on 16 October, His Royal Highness Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh named First Great Western powercar No. 43070 The Corps of Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers. The Duke is Colonel-in-Chief of the Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers (REME). The event was overseen my the Chief Executive Officer of First Great Western Andrew Haines.

The power car, recently refurbished at Brush Traction operated into Paddington for naming coupled back to back with 43132 from Old Oak Common. No. 43132 is scheduled to be the subject of a further FGW naming on Thursday 18 October.
