| The Pricess Royal names FGW power car
|
The Princess Royal (Princess Anne) visited First Great Western at London Paddington station on 18 October 2007 and during her visit was invited by FGWs Chief Executive Officer Andrew Haines to name refurbished HST power car No. 43132 We Save the Children - Will you?. The unveiling was carried out by the Princess as President of Save the Children UK and to mark sponsorship of the fund by FGW. The naming in platform 1 shows a change from standard nameplate policy previously adopted by FGW, with a red background plate incorporating the Save the Children logo mid-way along the plate. After the unveiling The Princess Royal visited the cab of the powercar before meeting a number of Save the Children members and fund raisers before continuing a busy round of events in London. Powercar No. 43132 was cleaned for its naming at Old Oak Common and operated light into the station with sister ex-works car No. 43070 which was named earlier in the week. |
