Hackney Downs station redecorated

National Express Group’s ‘one’ railway, the train operator for London and the East of England has rejuvenated Hackney Downs station, by having it redecorated. The station is looking brighter, fresher and cleaner, making it a much more inviting and pleasant environment for passengers. The beautiful examples of Victorian ironwork at the station are looking better than they have done in years after the fresh application of paint. The intricate pattern-work can now be fully appreciated.

Perry Ramsay ‘one’ railway’s Business Director for the West Anglia Route commented: “Improving the service we offer our customers is our key priority. We have just achieved eight successive periods of train service performance in excess of 90% on the West Anglia route and we are determined to improve this still further. Moreover, we are committed to enhancing the service we offer our customer in other ways too, including making our stations more pleasant for our passengers. We have tackled this in a number of ways, firstly by employing a new, multi-skilled mobile maintenance team who undertake cleaning, maintenance and decorating jobs. Secondly by implementing a comprehensive programme of redecoration across the ‘one’ network. We are committed to investing in our stations.”

‘one’ railway continue to make substantial investments in stations around their network. New lifts are currently being built at Harlow Town Station. In addition, a programme of re-decoration is in hand around the West Anglia route. The redecoration of Hackney Downs station is to be followed by that of Broxbourne station, due to be completed sometime in November 2007.
