Drax Power Limited agrees terms with First GBRf - more HYA wagons to be ordered

Drax Power Limited has agreed main terms with First GBRf for another multi million pound contract to move coal to its Drax power station. As a consequence, the freight haulier will place an order for more new purpose built and highly efficient HYA coal wagons.

The wagons are due for delivery in 2009, when the new Drax flow begins. The agreement between the two parties builds on First GBRf’s growing role in the transportation of coal, which plays a substantial and increasing part in the UK’s energy mix.

Jonathan Moser, First GBRf’s Business Development Director, said: “I am delighted that Drax has agreed terms with us for a significant amount of new traffic to First GBRf over and above our existing contract, which has been running consistently well since we started hauling for Drax in April this year. “It is due in part, I believe, to two factors. First, we place great emphasis throughout the company on giving our customers a reliable and efficient delivery service, and secondly we understand the challenges facing both the electricity generators and rail hauliers. “We offer the generators choice and, as our contracts with Drax and EDF Energy prove, we are winning business.“
