London Overground senior management team announced

London Overground Rail Operations Ltd (LOROL), the company chosen by Transport for London (TfL) to run trains in the capital, has announced the senior management team that will work with TfL to deliver the new London Overground service.

The senior management team is led by Managing Director, Steve Murphy.  Steve is supported by a team of professionals with extensive industry experience: Rob Brighouse, Deputy Managing Director; Catherine Noah, HR Director; Peter Daw, Fleet Director; Peter Austin, Finance Director; Claire Brown, Customer Services Director and Perry Ramsey, Operations Director. The team will be based at LOROL’s headquarters and site of the new training centre at Swiss Cottage.

Steve Murphy, Managing Director of LOROL, said: “I am delighted that we have recruited a team of excellent leaders to support all our staff to ensure we meet the Mayor’s tough performance targets and deliver the improvements passengers want to see. We are focusing on preparing thoroughly so that we hit the ground running when we take over services on 11 November.”

The  senior management team includes:
Steve Murphy, Managing Director, joined Laing Rail’s award winning Chiltern Railways franchise in 1994 and quickly assumed responsibility for all stations and customer service. In 1999 he became General Manager, responsible for all elements of the day-to-day running of the business, and in 2002 became Managing Director. Since 2004 Steve has been on secondment from Chiltern Railways as General Manager at Irish Rail. During this time he has driven a major modernisation programme, successfully introducing new trains across the network and achieving significant improvements in frequency, punctuality and customer satisfaction. At LOROL, Steve will be leading the team and realising the company’s vision, as well as managing the ongoing relationship with TfL and external stakeholders.
 
Rob Brighouse brings 30 years of rail industry experience in the UK, Australia and Hong Kong to his role of Deputy Managing Director. Rob already has extensive knowledge of the changes required to the network as he was LOROL’s Bid Director for the concession.  Rob will take overall responsibility for major projects at LOROL, including the refurbishment and upgrades planned for stations and the depot.  He will also manage developments planned for the East London Line and work associated with upgrades for the Olympics.
 
Peter Daw Having managed many fleets of trains and depots within the industry on both commuter and intercity railways, Fleet Director, Peter Daw has vast experience of introducing new fleets of trains, most recently the 357 phase one Electrostar on c2c. Prior to joining LOROL Peter was Fleet Manager for the GN route, managing a fleet of 94 trains and 3 maintenance depots.  Peter will be overseeing both existing fleets and the introduction of new fleets, as well as taking responsibility for engineering.
 
Perry Ramsey Operations Director,, previously worked as Business Director for One Railway. He has wide-ranging experience within the rail industry, with roles as diverse as train driver, Depot Manager and Operations Director. Perry will have overall responsibility for train crews, drivers, the control centre, safety and performance.
 
Catherine NoahHuman Resources Director,has worked across two previously successful PPP bids. She has a long career with a number of different railway organisations, including London Underground. Catherine has worked with trade unions and employees in developing and implementing significant change. Catherine will be responsible for recruitment, training, employee relations and communications.

Claire Brown, Customer Services Director, has been Operations Manager with Silverlink Metro since May 2006 and brings with her significant railway operations and customer service experience, including nine years at Heathrow Express. In addition to overseeing customer relations, Claire will manage both the stations and conductors at LOROL.
 
Peter Austin Finance Director,spent three years at the  Strategic Rail Authority where he led on the procurement of franchise  extensions.  Peter’s role at LOROL encompasses finance and procurement, as well as provision for  IT.
