South West Trains strikes 29 August, 8 & 11 September

SWT has advised that the train drivers’ union ASLEF has announced three days of strike action across the SWT network.

This action will severely limit the service provided, with NO TRAINS at all on many routes and about one in 10 of normal trains operating on other lines. The company has therefore asked passengers not to travel on South West Trains on these dates - 29 August, 8 and 11 September.

A timetable of the very limited train and express bus services expected to run will be published on the SWT website on Wednesday 23 August.

ASLEF has called this strike because SWT used fully-qualified driver managers to drive trains during a recent local dispute at Waterloo. SWT believe the use of managers was justified to maintain a normal safe train service. What the union sees as “strike breaking” SWT regard as good customer service.

WT has appealed to ASLEF to call off this action which will cause severe disruption to  passengers.
