The change over of rolling stock, to transfer the nine South West Trains operated, Porterbrook-owned Class 170s to First TransPennine in exchange for a like number of Class 158 vehicles is to go-ahead. The modified sets will be classified as 159/1 and upgraded and re-painted into SWT livery. The work is expected to be undertaken at Fratton depot.

The first two TPE Class 158s for transfer south are Nos. 158803 and 158804, after rebuilding these will become Nos. 159101 and 159102, number details of the remaining transfers are yet to be advised.
