Freightliner signs contract with CSAV

Freightliner Intermodal has signed a new contract with CSAV group Agencies UK to transport by rail approximately 20,000 TEU per annum throughout the UK.

The contract and supporting services will lift over 200,000 tons of freight off the congested roads of the UK each year – well over double the figure achieved by CSAV through Freightliner last year. Initially the main contract volume will target services from the Port of Felixstowe to Freightliner owned inland Terminals at Leeds, Manchester and Birmingham. It is anticipated that contract growth by rail through Freightliner will accelerate throughout the next 12 months as CSAV make the most of opportunities to service the fast expanding Far East, Middle East, South American and Central America/Caribbean services.

Michael Finn, Managing Director of CSAV Group Agencies UK, commented:"The introduction of this rail contract is an opportunity to ensure guaranteed resource availability to support our ever increasing volumes through the Port of Felixstowe, while at the same time reducing congestion and pollution by transporting freight by rail.”

Peter Maybury, Manager Director, Freightliner Intermodal, added:“This agreement is credit to our high levels of customer service and reliability, and we are delighted to provide CSAV with additional resources to transport containers which would have otherwise gone by road. We look forward to strengthening our relationship with CSAV in years to come.”
