New catering selection for Virgin Trains

New hot snacks, an improved range of sandwiches and new alcoholic drinks feature in the enhanced range of products on sale in Virgin CrossCountry Voyager shops from Saturday 26 August.

Hot meals ready in minutes will include Gruyere cheese, mushrooms and tomato panini with English mustard at £2.90, and Beef Bolognese with pasta and Chicken Tikka Masala with rice at £2.75 each. Also on offer will be Thick Creamy Vegetable Crosse & Blackwell Soup Cup at £1.30.

The sandwich range is being enhanced with Simply Cheese on white bread, a sandwich customers can customise with pickle or mustard, at £2.00 and Chicken Salad on malted bread at £2.75.

Also available will be the popular summer drink of Blackthorn Cider at £2.60 and Hardy's red and white wine at £3.50, and Double Expresso has been added to the extensive range of Fairtrade hot drinks.

As well as food and drink, the Voyager shops sell a good selection of books and magazines for the journey.

Virgin CrossCountry's Head of Sales and Supply Richard Baker said: "Our Voyager shops are all about quality and good value and our enhanced range reflects our determination to offer greater choice to our customers."

New hot snacks, an improved range of sandwiches and cakes, a new selection of healthier drinks and a wider range of fruit juices and waters feature in the enhanced range of products on sale in Virgin West Coast Pendolino shops from Saturday 26 August.

Hot eats will be supplemented by Gruyere cheese, mushroom and tomato panini with English mustard at £2.90, Bockwurst hot dog with caramelised onion, Monteray Jack cheese and tomato sauce and Tuna and Emmental melt with roast peppers and chargrilled red onions on black olive foccacia, both at £3.25. Also to be introduced is falafel and salad wrap to provide a wider vegetarian range.

The sandwich range is being enhanced with an extra mature Cheddar cheese ploughmans with real ale chutney on a multigrain roll (£2.95) and Wensleydale and caramelised carrot chutney on malted bread (£3.00), both suitable for vegetarians, and flaked smoked salmon and cucumber on oatmeal bread (£3.00). Lily O'Brien's cookies will feature along with a new range of cakes.

Also on offer will be three flavours of new Firefly drinks, still lemonade and larger bottles of apple juice, cranberry juice and water. Wines will now be available in two sizes and feature Hardy's and a great value high quality half-bottle at £4.80.

Virgin West Coast's Head of Contracts and Business Support Nick Hebborn said: "Our enhanced range reflects increased demand for healthier drinks instead of carbonates and offers greater variety to those wanting the vegetarian option.
