Major Investment at Worcester Foregate station

The passenger lifts at Worcester Foregate station are being refurbished in a £200,000 investment programme which will also see the lift cars replaced.

The new lift cars will have control buttons which can be used by passengers with visual impairments, visual displays, voice announcements, an emergency intercom system and grab handles. They are designed to be fully compliant with the requirements of the Disability Discrimination Act.

The refurbishment programme, funded by Network Rail, will begin on 4 September and take three months to complete, during which time there will be no lift acces to and from the platforms. Passengers who would normally need to use the lifts are advised to use Worcester Shrub Hill station instead.Worcester Shrub Hill serves all the destinations that are also served by Worcester Foregate Street. The level of service is, however, different. In particular only morning and evening peak time services go into Birmingham New Street; at other times services go into Snow Hill. Passengers who travel from Shrub Hill are advised to change at Galton Bridge and use the service into New Street or alight at Moor St and use the new Stationlink bus service.

Assistance is available to passengers but where possible it should be booked in advance.
