Evergreen 2 complete

Tom Harris MP, Parliamentary Under Secretary of State for Transport, will join Adrian Shooter, Chairman of Laing Rail and Chiltern Railways, to mark the completion of John Laing's £70 million Evergreen II project.

The project, completed on time and under budget, is the first time the DBFT (design, build, finance and transfer) model has been used for a capital works project in the rail industry.

Evergreen II involved the expansion of Marylebone station with two new platforms and additional signalling to increase capacity and improve operating efficiency on the Chiltern Railways line.

Class 165/0 No 165015 arrives in Platform 5 at Marylebone on 12 December 2006, forming a service from Aylesbury and draws up alongside stabled No 165007 in Platform 6. This was the day that these two platforms were formally opened by Rail Minister Tom Harris and also marked completion of the £70 million Project Evergreen II scheme. Brian Morrison
