Hull Trains launch 7th weekday service on Hull-King's Cross route

Hull Trainshas announced the introduction of an additional weekday service each way between Hull andLondon King's Crossl, taking its total number of weekday services to seven in each direction.

This is a major coup for Hull Trains as it has worked tirelessly to secure a service which will bring significant benefits for passengers travelling for both business and pleasure. The seventh service will provide a later departure for passengers travelling both north and southbound. Hull Trains will be operating a 19.18 departure from Hull to King's Cross and a 20.27 departure from King's Cross to Hull, Monday to Friday inclusive.

The company has been granted contingent rights by the Office of Rail Regulation to continue this service for a period of one year, with expectations that this right will be extended at the end of 2007.

Hull Trains’ managing director, Mark Leving, commented on this good news: “Everyone at Hull Trains is delighted that we will be able to provide an additional weekday service to cater for the needs of more passengers than ever before. This is a service that we have worked particularly hard to secure because we know, from talking to our passengers, the positive difference that later departures from Hull and Kings Cross will make. With capacity on the East Coast Main Line at such a high level, we had to work extremely hard to secure an additional service but with the help of the local business community we presented a strong businesses case in our favour. It became clear to the relevant bodies that there was both the demand for this service and benefits to be had for the wider region if this particular slot was granted to Hull Trains. The business community will benefit from being able to complete a full day’s business in either Hull or London and by having a more frequent, direct and luxurious service connecting the region to the Capital, inward investment in our region becomes an even more enticing prospect. It will also be great boost for local tourism as a longer day in the area will allow passengers travelling from out of the region to take in even more of our exciting sights and attractions. Coming on the heels of recent award wins for reliability and praise for the service that we provide particularly to the disabled community, the news of our additional daily service really is the icing on the cake for us. We are committed to maintaining the exceptional standards of service for which we are renowned and as the business grows, we will continue to look for ways in which we can enhance the entire travel experience to delight every single passenger.”
