New passenger lifts for Epsom

Epsom station is to get new passenger lifts. Work to replace the old goods style lifts will begin on 2 January 2007 and will take around four months to complete. As lifts will be out of operation during this period, there will be no step-free access to platforms at the station.

Passengers who cannot use the steps at the station and wish to travel to and from Epsom during the refurbishment works are advised to call Southern's Assisted Travel Helpline on 0800 138 1016 or Minicom/textphone: 0800 138 1018 for details of alternative arrangements.

Passengers who arrive at Epsom who are unable to use the steps will be taken to Ashstead station by taxi where they will be able to board a train service.

If Epsom is the destination station, passengers who cannot use the steps there should alight at either Sutton or Cheam if travelling southbound, or Leatherhead or Ashstead if travelling northbound. Transport will be arranged at any of these stations for onward travel to Epsom station.

The new lifts are scheduled to be in use by the end of April.
