New 'Mallard' interiors for GNER HSTs shown to the media

The first set of refurbished 'Mallard' HST stock for GNER is nearing completion at Wabtec Doncaster. The overhaul and refurbishment is extensive, but has produced an interior design in keeping with the high-quality of the HST train, which is now almost 30 years old.

The quality is outstanding, and when viewed alongside other recent HST passenger stock refurbishments it is noticeable that the GNER designers have aimed for overall high quality, going for less number of seats per vehicle and thus improving the overall journey experience.

When viewed and photographed the interiors were not totally complete.
